Star Hill Cemetery: A Quiet Corner of New Ulm, TX

Quietly tucked away in the rolling hills just outside of New Ulm, Texas, lies Star Hill Cemetery (also known as Sternenberg Cemetery), a peaceful and historic resting place that offers a touching glimpse into the area's history.  While not as widely known as some larger cemeteries, Star Hill holds its own unique charm and significance for those interested in local history and genealogy.

The cemetery dates back to the mid-19th century, reflecting the early settlement of the area by German immigrants and other pioneers.  Among the earliest recorded burials is that of Anna Daughtrey (Roberts), wife of Bryant Daughtrey in 1847.  Bryant was a veteran of the War of 1812 and he and Anna moved on the land there in 1822.
